CON/SPAN expands product offerings with Super Spans July 2010
(Guelph, Ontario) Con Cast Pipe, the licensed manufacturer of CON/SPAN System for the Southwestern Ontario region is proud to announce that they have added two new sizes to their product line. CON/SPANs traditional line-up of pre-engineered precast arch systems for set-in-place construction of bridges, culverts, underground containment and other applications ranged in size from 3.66 metres to 10.98 metres. Now CON/SPAN has added two new sizes referred to as Super Spans, offered in 12.81 metre and 14.64 metre widths. Like all of their spans, CON/SPANs new Super Spans can be adapted to suit site specifications, or designed in multiple span configurations for long distance crossings. The new Super Spans also work with CON/SPANs optional components such as precast footings, headwalls and wingwalls.
CON/SPAN has proven to be a popular product with good reason, said Jason Spencer, Sales and Marketing Manager for Con Cast Pipe. They provide excellent time and cost savings over cast-in-place alternatives, and they can not be beaten in terms of quality, endurance and aesthetic appeal. Spencer continued, the addition of the Super Spans to the line-up will benefit our customers who now have even more options when it comes to specifying precast arch systems.

Concrete Pipe Reused for Markdale Storm Sewer
When specifying pipe material for pipelines and culverts, the design engineer, contractor, and eventual owner of the infrastructure system should consider the durability of that system. This is especially important within the context of designing and constructing buried infrastructure that is sustainable. Reusing products and materials is a fundamental element of sustainable development that results in infrastructure assets with long term value because of durability. Servicing of a site in Markdale, Ontario for a new Chapmans ice cream production facility demonstrates the durability of concrete pipe, and how it contributes to sustainable development.
