ecoSep is a high efficiency oil water separator that achieves greater than 5ppm separation. The system consists of two chambers. The grit chamber pretreats the influent by allowing solids to settle prior to the separation chamber. A perforated elbow outlet pipe prevents floating solids from entering the separation chamber.
Flow is admitted to the separation chamber via a float-actuated shut-off valve (see ecoStop). Oils are lighter than water and will float on the surface. ecoSep can separate these light liquids, such as petroleum products, that have a specific gravity below 0.95. The accumulated light liquids are removed manually or with a patented automatic oil draw-off device. The removal of this oil provides savings in disposal costs and prevents re-emulsification of the accumulated floatable layer. The oil coalescing media performs final effluent polishing before discharge.
All internal parts are manufactured from anodized stainless steel and preinstalled within precast concrete maintenance holes. ecoSep separators far exceed current requirements for the separation of free non-emulsified oil from water. The focus of ecoSep is point source applications such as fuel stations, electrical transformers, or treatment of industrial process wastewater. Standard units address flow rates ranging from 3 L/s to 20 L/s.
